Thanksgiving/Fall Season Dinner’s Wine Selection
Pinot Blanc, Wolfberger, Eguisheim·Alsace, France, 2023
This clean and crisp style of wine displays delicate peach aromas with a hint of almonds. Smooth on the palate, it is balanced, with a creamy texture and a clean finish. 100% Pinot Blanc.
Chenin Blanc “Kasteelberg”, Riebeek Cellars, Swartland, South Africa, 2022
An elegant, aromatic and richly textured wine, with characteristics typical to Chenin Blanc grown under these conditions. Citrus, lemon zest, ripe apple and tropical flavors are only some of the flavors that charm the nose. The palate follows through with flavors of melon, a touch of spice and well-integrated wood for exceptional balance and a luxurious, lingering finish.
Bordeaux Blanc “Ambre de Blanc”, Château Maltus, Graves, Bordeaux, France, 2022
Medium-to full-bodied, creamy and dense with a chalky mouthfeel and textural finish. The blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon has a tropical fruit and lychee aroma, with a spicy, perfumed flavor. Rich with white fruits and light acidity, the wine is full-bodied.
Bourgogne Chardonnay, Remy Lefevre, Burgundy, France, 2022
The Bourgogne Chardonnay from Remy Lefevre is a marvel of density and aromatic expression. Very expressive on the nose, hints of stone and yellow fruits such as peach, pineapple. The opulence of the mouthfeel is nicely balanced between minerality and very delicate oaky notes.
Vire Clessé “Les Gentilhommes”, Maurice Martin, Mâconnais, France, 2022
This single-vineyard Chardonnay is produced in the village of Clessé, in the heart of the Mâconnais region in Burgundy, from 45 year-old vines planted on the limestone based soils of the Mount Epin.
Brillant robe with golden reflections. A nose with pear and white peach notes. Fresh, ample and full-bodied, a great balance in the mouth, with tension and subtle wooden notes.
Reserva Iconic Red Blend, Imperial Stag, Mendoza, Argentina, 2022
Imperial Stag Reserva Iconic Red Mendoza is made from 55% Malbec and 45% Syrah. This is a single vineyard planted with Malbec and Syrah with low yields.
Bright and intense, full bodied red wine with violet hues at the lips. Elegant and savory, with silky persistence. Captivating aromas of currants, raspberries and other red fruits. Distinct tobacco and chocolate aroma melded with honey and notes of pepper and nuts from its passage through French oak barrels.
Rioja “Reserva” Seliccion Familia, Luis Cana, Rioja, Spain, 2019
Including 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tempranillo-dominated 2019 Rioja Reserva Selección de la Familia is a crème de la crème selection that was aged 20 months in oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a sensational nose of ripe black and blue fruits, cedarwood, graphite, smoked tobacco, and chocolate. This carries to a full-bodied Rioja with a powerful, layered mouthfeel, ripe yet building tannins, and serious length on the finish.
Shiraz “Reserve” Shotfire, Thorn-Clarke Barossa Valley, Australia, 2019
Inky purple-red in color with intense depth to the rim. Aromas of sweet rich fruit and lifted cedar oak fill the glass. Abundant blackberry, violets and cigar box roll through the profile adding complexity and interest. The palate is round and silky with dark plum, liquorice, briar and blackberry primary fruits. The rich, toasty oak, and fleshy rounded tannins complete the palate of this dense, flowing wine. This poised and powerful wine is drinking amazingly well but with it’s density and presence will cellar impeccably well.
Red Blend” Los Lingues”, Siegle, Colchagua Valley, Chile, 2018
This blend includes 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Carménère and 20% Syrah coming from Colchagua Valley. Aromas of blackberry, raspberry and a touch of coffee bean emerge from the glass. A solid structure supports vanilla and other baking spices mixed with blackberries and blueberries. Lively acidity leads the flavors into a fruity aftertaste. —
Late Bottle Vintage Port, Boeria,Douro Valley, Portugal, NV
Deep rich ruby color with intense nose of crushed berries and red fruits. Rich and elegant on the palate with spice, raisins and red fruit flavors. Lovely balanced with a velvety but firm tannic structure that’s leads to a luscious long finish. Ideally served as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal.” This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.
